TIME+ field in top command gives information accurate to the hundereth of a second. Can I get the same information in microseconds?

I am trying to calculate the time it takes for a thread to change status from S to R and TIME+ field of top is not granular enough for this. If there is another way to get this information, how can I go about doing the same?
